What ages does the Juvenile Detention Center serve?
10 to 21 year olds are served in this facility.

What is the average stay for a juvenile detainee?
90 days.

Does the Juvenile Detention Center offer programs for at-risk or troubled kids?
The Center provides a one on one tour of the facility showing the negatives of being in detention.

What is the visitation schedule?

• Saturday 9-11 am and 1-3 pm or Sunday 9-11am or 12pm - 2pm
• Legal guardians only
• Must bring photo ID and proof of legal guardianship if not listed as legal guardian

What can I bring to my child?

• A new deck of cards (must be paper and still in packaging)
• Unlimited postal stamps

Can my child call me?

• Individuals can only make collect calls.  Calling cards are not allowed.  If only have a mobile phone, you need to contact your service carrier (AT&T, Verizon, etc.) to arrange to accept collect calls.
• Juvenile Detention Center cannot restrict calls without a court order.

Can I send my child a care package?
No, the Juvenile Detention Center provides everything the child needs.

What if my child needs medication?
A legal guardian must notify the Adult Detention Center regarding any medication(s)

How do I get a FINS Petition (Family in Need of Service)?
If you are interested in a FINS Petition, contact Carrie Williams of the Juvenile Probation Office by calling 479.783.0289.

How do I schedule a FOG (Fear of God) Tour?


FOG tours are available upon request.  Parents must sign a waiver and they do not accompany the child during the tour.  FOG tours last approximately 1 hour.  If you would like to schedule a tour, contact us by calling 479.783.3532.

How often are the individuals checked on?
Every individual is checked on every 15 minutes 24 hours a day.  Suicide individuals are checked on every 5 minutes.

Do the children attend school while incarcerated?
Yes, inmates are required to attend school while incarcerated.  School teachers are all accredited public school teachers.

How does Juvenile Detention Center handle mail?

• Income mail is screened and delivered.  If mail contains inappropriate content, the mail will be placed with the inmates property and distributed upon release.
• Mail cannot be interrupted without a court order.
