Burn Ban Lifted For Sebastian County

Judge Steve Hotz has lifted the burn ban for Sebastian County. Judge Hotz and the Department of Emergency Management have consulted with fire officials and the Arkansas Forestry Commission to determine the current fire danger and if environmental conditions are still favorable to support rapid fire growth. At this time, the rain that recently occurred in Sebastian County has been enough to lower the County's fire danger to low.

While the fire danger has been reduced, conditions are still favorable to support small fire growth. We are asking the public to be extremely careful if they feel the need to burn rubbish piles. During a low to moderate fire danger, open burning should only take place in the early morning or late at night when humidity levels are highest. Open burning within City limits should comply with City ordinances regulating burning. The Burn Ban may be reinstated in the future.

If you decide to burn in the rural areas of the County, please remember all controlled burns must be reported to the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office beforehand at (479) 783-1051.

Please see this Press Release from Judge Hotz.
